Healthy Ponds® pH UP and pH DOWN
Establishing balance begins with maintaining the proper pH conditions. Proper pH allows naturally occurring beneficial bacteria to thrive and promote an ecological balance. Healthy Ponds® pH UP and pH DOWN allow balancing or adjusting the pH as necessary if the pH is below 6.0 or above 8.5.
Water Balancing Tips
Using Healthy Ponds® pH UP or pH DOWN will adjust the pH in your pond to the proper level. Before adjusting the pH, make sure the alkalinity (buffering capacity) is above 80 ppm. This can be accomplished by simply adding baking soda (or soda ash) to the water in small increments. The pH adjuster should be added in small increments to prevent shock to the pond. The pH should change no more than 0.2 units per day. Test the pH after 24 hours to see if another treatment is needed. Record all the results. Dry pH adjusters are easier and safer to handle than liquid pH adjusters.
